The Weigra variety belongs to the group of pasture grasses with a medium or late heading date. It possesses good regrowth capacity after grazing or mowing. The plant is characterized by resistance to trampling, which allows it to be used for both pastures and hay meadows.

The variety demonstrates resistance to crown rust and stem rust. Like other perennial ryegrass varieties, Weigra is sensitive to snowless frosts and prolonged ice cover. The variety is used in mixtures for perennial grassland, and has also been considered in biogas potential studies.
