Variety description

The variety is a compact climbing shrub 2–3 meters in height with an annual growth of about 1 meter. Leaves are opposite, elliptical or ovate; young shoots have a purple-green hue, becoming intensely green as they grow. The plant needs supports, which it climbs by twining.
Abundant flowering occurs from June to September. Flowers are gathered in capitate inflorescences at the ends of shoots, have a dark purple coloration on the outside and cream-white on the inside, and possess a pronounced sweet aroma. In August–October, inedible shiny dark red berries ripen.
The plant prefers sunny or semi-shaded locations with moist fertile soil. It requires minimal pruning — removal of dead shoots in spring and periodic rejuvenating trimming. The variety can be affected by aphids or powdery mildew under unfavorable growing conditions.
