The variety is a representative of the species Lophospermum scandens of the Plantaginaceae family. The plant has a climbing habit.

The leaves are 4.0 by 6.5 cm in size, their upper side is colored yellowish-green (RHSCC 137C). The flowers reach a length of 6.0 cm and have a purple-red color (RHSCC 58A).
