The variety belongs to the low-alkaloid form, suitable for use in feed and food purposes as a source of protein and functional ingredients. The presence of flavonoids, trans-ferulic acid, and trans-p-coumaric acid has been recorded in the seeds.

The plant is sensitive to high soil pH levels: at values above 7.5, a decrease in biomass and signs of iron-deficiency chlorosis are observed, which is characteristic of this crop's increased requirement for soil acidity.
