The variety is a wide, highly branching shrub 40–50 cm in height, capable of forming root suckers. The plant is characterized by evergreen foliage, which has a dark green glossy color in summer and acquires a purple-green hue in winter.
Flowering occurs in April with bright yellow flowers gathered in short racemes. The fruits are large and dull blue-black in color. The shrub is moderately shade-tolerant, suitable for planting on slopes, embankments, and as part of group plantings.
