The tree is vigorous, reaching a height of 6–10 meters; the crown changes from narrow-upright to spreading with age. The variety is early-maturing, with fruits ripening in August. The tree is characterized by high winter hardiness, withstanding the harsh conditions of USDA zones 3–8.
Fruits are small, 3–4 cm in diameter, elongated ovoid in shape, dark purple or bright red with a bloom. The flesh is yellowish, juicy, with a sour-astringent taste. High pectin content makes the variety suitable for the production of jelly, juices, and cider.
The variety has high resistance to scab. Regarding fire blight, data varies from good resistance to moderate susceptibility. The plant is widely used as a pollinator for other apple varieties due to its long flowering period.
