The variety is a liana with woody stems. The height of the plant varies depending on growing conditions and the presence of support; in warm climates, representatives of the species can reach from 2 to 4.5 meters, however, varieties for patios are often characterized by more compact growth.

The plant belongs to thermophilic crops and is sensitive to low temperatures. A characteristic feature of the species is the presence of poisonous milky sap.
