The plant is a shrub with a tendency toward a weeping growth habit. It is characterized by large, leathery, dark green waxy leaves and hanging pink inflorescences with expressive bracts.
The variety is a tropical crop requiring high air humidity, protection from direct sunlight, drafts, and low temperatures. Unlike the typical species, it is capable of blooming year-round. It is used as a container plant for interiors, greenhouses, and winter gardens.
