Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety is a biennial plant. During the breeding process, the low-coumarin gene was transferred from white sweet clover to yellow sweet clover through embryo culture and subsequent crossing. The plant is characterized by thin stems and small leaves.

The main feature of the variety is that the coumarin content is only in trace amounts, which eliminates the risk of cattle developing "sweet clover disease". The variety has good winter hardiness, moderate drought tolerance, and is adapted to various soil types, including saline soils.

Compared to the Polara variety, Norgold provides a 16% increase in forage mass yield. The spring growth vigor of this variety may be lower than that of some other yellow sweet clover varieties.
