The Rigel variety is a low-growing plant with small or medium-sized leaves and flowers. The flowering type of the variety is medium to late. Seed pods are characterized as medium-long, with a medium tendency to shatter.
The oil content of the seeds is high or very high. The content of gamma-linolenic acid is consistently higher than that of wild forms of evening primrose.
