The variety belongs to the Clearfield technology, which ensures its resistance to specific imidazolinone-based herbicides, allowing for effective weed control in intensive agriculture.

The grain of the variety is classified as type B long grain. During field trials evaluating the resistance of Italian rice varieties to rice blast caused by Pyricularia oryzae, the CL46 variety showed no symptoms of infection.
