The Miara variety belongs to the Mediterranean group of the japonica subspecies and is cultivated in Europe. In agricultural and scientific practice, it has become widespread as a model genotype for biotechnological work, including anther culture and plant regeneration from protoplasts.

The plant has medium-sized grains that are classified as medium-long. Starch composition studies indicate a low content of resistant starch in them. In the context of agronomic trials, the variety was studied for genetic stability, variability, and tolerance to low temperatures at the germination stage.
