The Tigre variety is the first indica-type breeding variety from the Italian National Rice Institute possessing aromatic properties. It belongs to the group of early-maturing varieties, which allows for effective weed rice control measures.

The grain is classified as long-grain (type Long B) and is characterized by a high yield during industrial processing. Due to the high amylose content, the cooked rice is firm and flaky. The variety possesses good tolerance to rice blast and brown spot.
