The variety, also known by the designation Kimax, is an energy tree with a high growth rate. It is characterized as a fast-growing crop capable of reaching significant height in a few years.

The timber of this hybrid is a hardwood, while being 30% lighter than similar species; it is resistant to warping and has a high ignition temperature of about 420–430 °C.
