The name Honeydew in the context of orchids refers to the Phalaenopsis Honey Dew hybrid registered in 1967, obtained by crossing Phalaenopsis Moon Monarch and Phalaenopsis Sunbeam. There are also modern commercial forms, such as Phalaenopsis Miki Honeydew 253 and Floriclone Honeydew.
These plants are ornamental hybrids for cultivation in home conditions or greenhouses. Concepts of maturity group or agronomic parameters do not apply to them, as quality is assessed exclusively by flowering characteristics, flower shape, and plant compactness.
