Bruine Kogelboon is an heirloom local variety historically cultivated in the Walcheren region. The plant forms a strong, low-growing bush that does not require the installation of supports. The pods contain a parchment layer, therefore the variety is grown exclusively for the production of dry mature seeds.

The seeds have an ovoid or rounded shape resembling bullets and are colored brown. The variety shows moderate resistance to a number of common diseases, including bacterial blight and bean common mosaic virus, but is susceptible to anthracnose.

Sowing is carried out in open field from early May to early June with a spacing of 10 cm between plants and 45–50 cm between rows. Harvesting is conducted in autumn after the plants have completely dried, followed by drying and threshing.
