The CARAI variety is a local landrace of Phaseolus vulgaris with Mesoamerican origins. Visually, it is a white bean, the distinctive feature of which is the absence of the characteristic curvature typical of the Ganxet variety.
The plant is a part of the agricultural heritage of Catalonia. The variety is maintained by the Fundació Miquel Agustí and is used primarily in traditional cooking due to its gastronomic characteristics and ease of preparation.
