The variety is a traditional cultivar from the Spanish region of Asturias. The plant is characterized by a growth type IVa, in which pods are distributed uniformly along the entire length of the stem, which distinguishes it from other local varieties such as Andecha.

The produce of the variety is valued for its size and high culinary qualities, being an important ingredient for traditional cuisine. Specific agronomic characteristics, including maturity dates and lodging resistance, are not recorded in standardized descriptions.
