The name Haricot maïs is used as a descriptive term for a group of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) varieties grown together with corn. In international classifiers and CPVO and UPOV documentation, this type is used as a reference for describing grain shape and growth type during expert assessments.

The regional type 'Tarbais' is often implied under this designation. Plants of this type are vining, reach 300 cm in height, and require the use of strong supports. In terms of vegetation period, they are classified as mid-late or late varieties, the harvesting of which is usually carried out in the autumn period.
