The variety is an heirloom selection historically cultivated by the Hidatsa tribe. The plant is of the pole type and requires support, reaching a height of 1 to 3 meters. Traditionally, the variety is grown within the "Three Sisters" agricultural system, using corn as a support.

The seeds of the variety are large, white in color with a distinctive contrasting caramel or brown-colored spot. The variety is late-maturing, with a vegetation period of approximately 90 days. Each pod typically forms 4 to 5 seeds.

The beans are used as a grain crop for soups and stews, as the grain retains its shape well during cooking, and are also consumed at the immature shelling stage or as green beans at early stages of development. The variety is open-pollinated and resistant to heat and drought.
