The variety is a bush bean form adapted to irrigated farming conditions. The plant belongs to the first growth type according to the Singh classification and was obtained by pedigree selection from crosses of Borlotto-type varieties with accession PI 150414.
Seeds at the maturity stage have a pattern characteristic of this type in the form of red stripes on a beige background. The variety possesses genetic resistance to common bean mosaic virus and bacterial blight caused by Pseudomonas syringae pv phaseolicola, and is also used in genetic transformation research.
