POL'KA
ActivePhaseolus vulgaris L. · Common bean
PRZEDSIEBIORSTWO NASIENNICTWA

The variety is a low-growing bush form adapted to the local conditions of the Ribnica region. It has been historically cultivated since the end of the 18th century and is considered part of the agricultural heritage of Slovenia, where it was also known by the name Konikar.
The plant is highly productive, forming elongated seeds with a characteristic red color and light spots. In cooking, the grain is valued for retaining its shape during boiling and for its versatility in soups, stews, and salads. Mature pods can have a fibrous structure, therefore the variety is less suitable for use as green beans.
