The plant is a bush form reaching a height of 50–60 cm and has dark green leaves. The variety is historically adapted to the medium-textured soils of Tuscan river valleys and was often grown intercropped with maize.
During the maturation phase, the pods change color from green with red streaks to cream with irregular red spots. The seeds are elliptical in shape and red with a dark pattern. The variety is characterized by an extended seed maturation period.
