The Tiber variety belongs to the Andean gene pool of common bean. In scientific literature, it is characterized as drought-tolerant, which is why it is frequently used as a reference standard when studying the physiological and molecular responses of the plant to moisture deficit.

The variety is intended for agricultural production and is also widely used in breeding work to create new drought-tolerant bean lines.
