ActivePhaseolus vulgaris L. · Common bean

10 August 2026
The variety is a bush bean form that developed through long-term folk selection in the Pratomagno mountain area. The seeds are characterized by a rounded shape, a pale yellow hue (from which the name, echoing the word for "sulfur", is derived), and a white spot in the hilum area.
The plant is of the grain-use type. The characteristic features of the finished product are thin skin, which ensures easy digestibility, and high resistance of the seeds to overcooking while maintaining a dense, creamy consistency.
Cultivation is traditionally timed for sowing on the hundredth day of the year. Due to the genetic heterogeneity inherent in landraces and specific adaptation to the terrace farming conditions of the region, the variety requires testing for adaptability when grown in other climatic zones.
