The variety is a shrubby or small tree-like form with a compact, slightly flattened crown. The plant possesses genetically fixed traits suitable for miniature cultivation: shortened shoots and internodes, as well as needles that are shorter and narrower than those of wild-growing pines of this species. An increased number of buds form on the whorls, which contributes to dense branching; the variety also distinguishes itself by a specific bark texture and needle color.
The plant is a specialized decorative object and is used exclusively for bonsai shaping. Publications mention specimens with a height of 57–65 cm grown as shaped trees. The variety retains the general biological characteristics of the species, however, detailed data on industrial agrotechnology for it are absent.
