The pea variety Gerola was bred at the Romanian Research Institute for Vegetable and Flower Growing in Vidra. Since 2002, the variety has undergone a process of conservative selection to maintain its purity and characteristics.
In scientific literature, the variety is used in comparative studies, in particular for the analysis of mineral element content in plant organs. Detailed agronomic characteristics of the variety, such as maturity group, plant height, or disease resistance indicators, are not available in open sources.
