The variety belongs to the group of so-called culinary peas intended for cooking. The genetic pedigree of the variety is represented by a combination of the parental forms Kapital II and Östgöta gulärt.

Currently, seeds of this variety are in the collection of the Nordic Genetic Resource Center. It should be noted that the name "Gyllenärt" is also used in botany to refer to Lathyrus aurea, which is not a Pisum sativum.
