The variety is multi-podded and was bred as a result of crossing the DSP and Multiple parent/New Era-DSP 70 lines. The variety has been traditionally used as a standard for describing the morphology of other pea varieties of the Puget type.

The plant belongs to mid-season or mid-late varieties and possesses high yield. Due to its stable characteristics, the variety has been used in scientific research, including experiments on plant transformation and the study of drought resistance mechanisms.
