The variety is a rhizomatous perennial with glaucous-green foliage and characteristic flattened stems. It forms a dense turf, while being characterized by slower regrowth after mowing and lower shoot density compared to Kentucky bluegrass.
The plant is adapted to extreme conditions, including drought and infertile soils, which makes it in demand for land reclamation and roadside landscaping. The variety is considered late-maturing and is often used in seed mixtures.
