The plant is a perennial grass with thin hollow stems and narrow lanceolate leaves. The variety «Extase» commercially available usually has compact dimensions, reaching about 20 cm in height including the pot.

The crop is heat-loving, moisture-loving, prefers bright places protected from direct sunlight and high air humidity. It is used in interior design exclusively as an indoor ornamental plant.
