The plant forms a dense tuft with narrow, rigid, bright green leaves that have a shiny surface. Stem height varies from 15 to 60 cm, with the plant having a tendency to spread in width.
Under cultivation conditions, it rarely blooms, forming short spikelets with small awns and dark red stamens. The variety is moisture-loving and prefers partial shade or bright, diffused light, requiring a constantly moist substrate. In regions with a warm climate, it can be cultivated in open ground.
