The fruits of this variety are suitable for fresh consumption due to the "melting" consistency of the flesh. The variety shows susceptibility to diseases such as peach leaf curl and powdery mildew.
In scientific literature, Merrill Sundance often acts as a comparative object in the study of tree growth physiology, reaction to water deficit during irrigation, and resistance to various pathogens.
