The plant belongs to the species Rhododendron simsii Planch. and is characterized as an upright bush. Young leaves are dark green, while mature ones are elliptical, short, and broad with an acuminate tip.
The flowers of the variety are single, with a purple hue according to RHS classification 72B, and feature characteristic markings in the throat. The pistil is longer than the stamens. Under trial conditions, the variety is classified as mid-early in terms of flowering time.
