The Paulina variety is an ornamental potted plant for indoor cultivation. Representatives of the Rhododendron simsii species are evergreen or semi-evergreen shrubs that, in potted culture, are characterized by a compact, predominantly upright habit.
Plants of this species bloom during the winter-spring period, starting from late autumn until spring. Optimal development requires cool conditions, with a temperature of 16–18°C during the active growth period and 5–10°C in winter, bright diffused light, and a substrate with a slightly acidic reaction of pH 4.5–6.0.
Plants are supplied in various commercial forms, including finished potted specimens, as well as trained standard or pyramidal forms. Azaleas are characterized by sensitivity to waterlogging, which causes a risk of root rot, and infestation by pests such as azalea aphids or spider mites.
