ActiveRibes rubrum L. · Redcurrant
RIETSEMA (NL)
10 August 2026
The variety has a vigorous bush 100–150 cm in height and 80–100 cm in width with well-branched upright shoots. Dark red berries with glossy skin reach a diameter of about 8 mm. The yield forms in long, dense clusters, which simplifies the harvesting process.
The plant belongs to mid-early or mid-season varieties; the harvest period falls between late June and mid-July. The variety is distinguished by its hardiness, lack of demanding requirements for the growing site, and low susceptibility to powdery mildew.
The berries have a multipurpose use and are suitable for fresh consumption; however, due to their tart, acidic taste, they are especially valued for processing into juices, jellies, and homemade preserves.
