Variety description

10 August 2026

The Ubric variety (trade name White Icicle) is an upright deciduous shrub 1.5–2.5 m tall. The plant requires periodic pruning to maintain its shape; otherwise, the branches may develop a bare appearance.

Flowering is early and abundant; the inflorescences consist of large, pendulous, pure white racemes. The variety is hardy, drought-tolerant once established, and winter-hardy, although it may be susceptible to rust.

The fruits are small blue-black berries which are technically edible but lack a distinct flavor. The plant is used exclusively for ornamental purposes: as a specimen plant, in mixed borders and hedges, and as a nectar source for insects.
