The variety Hanuhl belongs to the group of Rosa rugosa hybrids obtained from crossing 'Frau Dagmar Hastrup' and 'Moje Hammarberg'. The plant forms a rounded, dense, and spreading shrub 80–100 cm in height and width. The stems are thorny and covered with textured dark green leaves that turn yellow in autumn.
The flowers of the variety are semi-double, have 25 to 30 petals and a diameter of 6–7 cm, are colored red or light red, and possess a pronounced fragrance. After flowering, orange-red fruits form on the bushes, persisting until winter. The variety is distinguished by abundant flowering in the summer period with possible repeat blooming.
The plant is undemanding, resistant to poor soils and salinity. Due to its dense growth, the variety is used as a park rose for creating hedges, borders, landscaping rock gardens, or as a solitary plant.
