The variety was bred by French breeder Paul Pekmez in 1984 and belongs to the floribunda group. The name PEKlipink is the technical varietal code for the variety known in international classification by the name Claridge.

The plant's flowers are pink, each counting from 30 to 35 petals. The inflorescences form as large clusters and are accompanied by an intense fragrance.
