Variety description

The plant is a climbing vine with arching shoots 1–3 meters long, covered with dense red glandular hairs and sparse thorns. The compound leaves have a dark green upper side and a silvery-white tomentose underside. Small flowers with reddish petals are gathered in compact racemes.
The fruits are edible conical aggregate drupes 1–2 cm long, which turn bright red upon ripening. The plant bears fruit in summer or early autumn on last year's shoots. The berries have a sweet-and-sour taste but have low transportability.
The species is characterized by high winter hardiness down to -29 °C and pronounced resistance to diseases and pests of garden raspberries. Due to its ability for rapid vegetative propagation by rooting of shoot tips, the plant can be aggressive and suppress other crops.
