The first form (Barbara 1) belongs to the Rhapsodie series and is a standard Saintpaulia for four-inch pots with ruffled purple flowers and medium-green leaves. The second form (Barbara 2) is a European Holtkamp variety, characterized by single pink flowers and dark-green "girl"-type leaves; in the USA, this variant is distributed under the name Gemini.
Varieties of this series are industrial hybrids adapted for abundant, frequent flowering and indoor cultivation. The plants possess increased resistance to diseases, particularly rots, and good adaptability to transportation, during which the flowers do not shatter.
