The Richarda variety was created as an improved version of the early Rhapsodie Elfriede variety. It became an important milestone in breeding, offering a solution to the problem of flower drop during transport, which subsequently became a global standard for industrial Saintpaulia.

The plant belongs to the group with dark blue flowers and is intended for pot culture cultivation based on a single symmetrical rosette. In modern catalogs, the variety is listed in the Optimara series blue Saintpaulia collection.
