The variety is primarily intended for use as an energy crop. The plant is perennial and capable of producing stable biomass yields in one location for up to 15 years.

The cup plant is characterized by high drought tolerance, which is ensured by a developed deep root system, and is capable of reaching a height of 150–250 cm.
