The variety is an ecotype (landrace) historically grown in the area of the city of Battipaglia and the Sele River valley. The plant is intended for cultivation in the open field and has been cultivated for a long time as a local folk selection.

The fruits have a characteristic shape of a small flask or bottle and a bright red color. The flesh is distinguished by a rich aroma and high lycopene content. The variety is versatile in use, suitable for preparing sauces, pastes, and preservation in the form of traditional 'pacchitelle'.
