As commercial offerings, F1-hybrids are encountered, characterized as mid-early plants with round fruits weighing 140–160 g, possessing resistance to heat and viral diseases. In the amateur seed segment, the name is used for semi-determinate varieties with an early ripening period of about 70 days and fruits weighing 140–200 g.

The name is also used as a trademark by a large vegetable producer for the sale of various industrially grown tomato varieties. Due to the lack of a single description, different breeding forms may be offered on the market under the Red Sun brand.
