De colgar is a group of heirloom landraces from the Mediterranean region. The plants are indeterminate and can reach a height of 1.5–2 meters. The varieties are mid-season or late-season.
The fruits have a weight of 50 to 120 g, with a predominantly round or oblate shape. They are distinguished by dense flesh and skin, and the color varies from reddish-pink to orange-red. The taste is sweetish, balanced by a slight acidity.
The key feature is high keeping quality: when stored in a hanging position in cool, ventilated rooms, the tomatoes remain fresh for several months to half a year. Various local populations may be hidden under the general name.
