The Camone tomato variety was first introduced in the southern part of Sardinia in the mid-1980s and was obtained through the selection of natural genetic hybrids. Fruits of this specific variety were sold on the market under the Kamonio brand.

The fruits range in size from 47 to 50 mm. Characteristic features are pronounced dark green "shoulders" at the stalk, high firmness, and crunchy flesh. Taste qualities are determined by a combination of high acidity and high sugar levels. In Italian conditions, the harvest is available from December to June.
