The Kiros (Selezione Cirio 3) variety is a biotype that preserves the genetic heritage of original San Marzano tomatoes. The plant is indeterminate and requires vertical cultivation using supports, as well as side-shoot removal and topping.
The fruits reach a length of 60–80 mm, have a cylindrical or pyramidal shape, and are red in color with characteristic green shoulders when immature. The internal structure of the fruits is characterized by firm flesh, low seed and water content, and a balanced sugar-to-acid ratio, which is optimal for prolonged heat treatment.
