The Médina variety belongs to the generation of tomato hybrids that followed the Ferline variety. It is intended for growing on stakes in open field conditions.

A distinctive feature of the variety's fruits is the presence of a green shoulder at the peduncle. In scientific literature, the name of the variety is also encountered in the context of tomato genetics research, particularly in the study of the Mi resistance gene to root-knot nematodes.
