The Murietta variety was introduced as part of industrial vegetable growing programs for processing, for example, for the production of tomato paste or canned goods. In terms of its morphological characteristics and fruit firmness, it was close to the industrial standard of its time — the UC82 variety.

The plant belongs to the determinate growth type, which allowed for the use of mechanized harvesting. During scientific research of that period, the variety was classified as susceptible to Meloidogyne incognita nematodes. Today, the variety is not used in commercial production and is found primarily in archival materials.

It is important to avoid confusion with the eponymous avocado variety Murietta Green, mentioned in specialized horticultural sources.
